MICHAEL WALTERS
...SOMETHING LIKE A DAME.
A man of a thousand faces and as many voices, Michael Walters first donned the wisteria wig and rhinestone glasses in 1998, while acting in a small play, to create a distinctive take on an eccentric female character. Much to his surprise, demand for his homage grew exponentially, and since then he has astonished audiences around North America with his award-winning and critically acclaimed tribute shows.
He is the longest-running Dame Edna tribute artist in the world and presents the only fully-staged tribute show that's complete with Edna's beloved humor as well as new material, original musical numbers, dynamic multimedia, and faithful replicas of the Dame's signature hairstyle, iconic jeweled glasses, and showstopping glittery gowns; all crafted by Broadway's finest artists.
His past touring productions, A Royal Audience, Something Like a Dame, Purple Reign, With Love from the Bush, and The Marvelous Mrs. Megastar, have made him a perennial favorite in destinations like Palm Springs, Napa Valley, Ogunquit ME, Provincetown MA, and Puerto Vallarta.
Michael was also the creator and host of Dame Edna's Broadway Cabaret for a record-breaking eleven year run in South Florida. The show ran until 2020 when he relocated to New York City, where he enjoys the life of a working actor.
In his latest production, Overdressed for the Apocalypse, he hilariously celebrates the acerbic and outrageous comedy style Dame Edna pioneered for over 65 years on stage and TV. He also incorporates his own unique talents, making the show “A theatrical tour-de-force!” -Orlando Weekly. The show marks a milestone as Walters' off-Broadway debut with the Dame Edna character.
Barry Humphries, the late comedy legend and creator of Dame Edna, called Michael “spectacular” and so will you! Michael is eternally grateful to Mr. Humphries for his kindness over the years.

When he's not probing audiences as Dame Edna, Michael Walters is a noted baritone singer and character actor, considering musical theatre his true calling. He is also lauded for his impersonation of Jackie Gleason (The Honeymooners, Smokey and the Bandit), as well as his annual portrayal of Santa Claus for some of New York City's best known hotels, productions, and events.
